The Brown Basilisk is a crested lizard considered to be an established non-native species in Florida. Thought to have been brought from Central America via the pet trade, this lizard can grow up to two feet in total length. Although not an aquatic lizard, they have the peculiar ability to "run on water" in which they use their powerful back legs to run across ponds, lakes and rivers with enough force to keep them from sinking.
